After long time expectation, finally BlackBerry Playbook is finally released. This RIM’s top product is officially released April 19th 2011 in North America. The rumor said that it will be release in next June in Indonesia. Late April, Asia Pacific RIM with Oliver Pilgerstorfer as Public Relation Manager had invited journalists for benchmarking this device.

Talking about the display, the first thing that draws attention is the quality of screen, 1024×600 pixels able to display crystal clear image, the detail and full color. You can watch the blue ocean and sky is really fascinating. Playbook is able to convert High Definition Profile 1080p and other format like AVI, MP4, and FLV including video which can be converted to High Profile 1080p. Imagine that you enjoying High Definition movie while in high traffic jam or where ever you want with this cool playbook. Playbook also has HDMI plug so you can play video into Television set.

The size of the playbook that compact and lighter, the 13×19.4 dimension and 1 cm thick maybe quite big in your suit or jeans pocket, but with only 425 grams weight, creates a device that is comfortable to roam with. In the back of playbook is made of rubber material which makes it study and not slick in your hand. Compare to iPad, playbook is better for portability.

The other advantages of playbook is multitasking ability, in benchmarking, we can see how playbook can run applications at the same time, such as browser, video, audio and other application. We have tried to run 10 applications at the same time and playbook can run them with no problem.

Playbook it self has own application store different with BlackBerry App World. Speaking of application for playbook, Oliver admitted that there few of them but he positive that in the future will be lots of it, because playbook application can be made by many programming language such as C/C++, Adobe Air, HTML5 and JavaScript, “even playbook can run Android application” he said. RIM will provide some kind of virtual application which can run Android application on Playbook operating system.

Ironically, from all Oliver demonstrated, not even one mentioning email, which is BlackBerry good at, in fact this is the weakness of it, no email client program, contact address, even calendar. The only thing that connects to Playbook is BlackBerry, what RIM calls BlackBerry Bridge, if they are connected, all email in BlackBerry can be red in Playbook. But if pairing disconnected, data in Playbook is gone too. RIM promises that email application in Playbook will be available soon.
